There’s something so intrinsically “summer” about lemonade, and the colder the concoction, the more refreshing it will be. This beverage is so good and highly versatile; it can be made virgin or boozy, depending on who’s hitting your pool that day.
Frozen Lemonade – Recipe
1 cup of lemonade
1 pint of ice
1 pint of lemon sorbet
Blend together in slow pulses, until you reach the desired, slushy consistency.
For an alcoholic version, add 1 cup of vodka or rum (with lime).
Want to make a splash at your next pool party ? Combine some of your favorite childhood drink ingredients to create a sweet yet sparkly beverage that party-goers of all ages will love to sip in or around the pool. Note: Make sure to label your drink as virgin or alcoholic, so no one mistakenly drinks from the wrong punch bowl.
Tidal Wave – Recipe
1 package of Blue Raspberry Kool-Aid (or an equivalent drink mix that’s available at a grocery store near you)
1 can of frozen lemonade
1 2-liter bottle of Sprite
If you do not have frozen lemonade at your disposal, you can make your own by freezing lemonade until it’s partially frozen, then mixing it so that it becomes slushy.
Add 1 bottle of rum to create an alcoholic version of this party favorite.
Honey Raspberry Sweet Tea
You don’t have to live in the southern USA to appreciate the refreshing taste of sweet tea, and you most certainly don’t have to stick to traditional sweet tea recipes, when planning your poolside drinks this summer. You can update and upgrade your thirst-satisfier with fresh new flavor profiles, including the ever-tart, yet ever-popular cranberry and raspberry.
This version of the southern classic is simple to make, vegetarian, gluten-free, and Paleo-friendly.
Honey Raspberry Sweet Tea – Recipe
2 cups of freshly brewed tea
2 cups of cranberry-raspberry juice
¼ cup of honey
Allow it to chill before serving to pool-goers over the age of 1 (if you’d like to serve to younger attendees, swap out the honey for date or agave syrup).
Last on our list for this summer, Mermaid Mimosas are reminiscent of the popular brunch drink, but make a splash when served poolside, thanks to their vibrant color and tropical taste. This beverage IS alcoholic, but you can substitute the boozy ingredients for some soda water and peach or other sweet drink, to make it friendlier to children and those looking for virgin drink options.
Mermaid Mimosas – Recipe
1 bottle of pineapple juice
10 oz of Curacao Blue
1 bottle of Prosecco or champagne
10 oz of Midori
a splash of lime juice if you’d like
Add, and wedge a lime slice onto the glass, before serving.
